"About Jane & The Pink House"
By Geneviève D'Souza

As the creator and owner of Jeanne Lottie, Jane Ip has turned True Happiness into more than just a way of life. Her fashionable and affordable line of handbags has attracted the attention of modern women who are driven by colour and fun.

Born in Hong Kong in 1958, Jane moved to the U.S. in 1978 and then immigrated to Canada in 1982. She is a psychology and business graduate from Portland State University in Oregon and a 1984 MBA graduate from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto. In 1985, Jane started Jeanne Lottie with her sister, Charlotte. Using a combination of their first names--Jeanne is from Jane and Lottie is from Charlotte--they created Jeanne Lottie. The Chinese pronunciation, Jun Lok Tai means true happiness--the company philosophy.

Jeanne Lottie has received world-wide media coverage. Her handbags have been highlighted in major market fashion magazines and on TV shows across North America. Also, attracting attention is Jane's head office known as The Pink House, a Victorian home in Yorkville--a posh Toronto neighbourhood. The house is a reflection of Jane's personality with its colourful décor, one-of-a kind art pieces, and warm ambiance.

The Pink House is where a wide array of distinctly feminine merchandise showcases Jane's natural ability to sketch her own handbag designs. Jeanne Lottie also carries accessories and a signature perfume called Diamant Rose. Each product is created to reveal a woman's style, confidence, and personality.

But it is Jane's mission to blend community living with community giving that has attracted the attention of women and men. In 2002 "The Queen of Pink" (as she is affectionately dubbed!) formed the Pink Bedroom Party, a talk-of-the-town charity event in support of The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute at Princess Margaret Hospital. The event also supports Sick Kids Foundation and children with cancer.

At 51 years of age, Jane exudes the joie de vivre and charm that is so characteristic of her True Happiness….Is True Beauty philosophy. She has a genuine personality that is endearing and a   thriving entrepreneurial spirit that is contagious. Young and new entrepreneurs are often drawn to her carefree, yet successfully driven self-marketing skills--a model for their own startups.

Jane's award-winning success includes an honour bestowed upon her this past March in New York City. As a recipient of the Woman of Great Esteem Emerald Award, Jane joins the ranks of upcoming honourees--like Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey--in recognizing her extraordinary advancement of women and world peace.

Keeping her brand fun and accessible is Jane's mission. It is a business that is inspired by her love for people, cultures, and faraway places. As a world traveler, Jane incorporates many memorable moments and images into her designs. Her travels have taken her to Milan, Paris, London, Australia, Egypt, Argentina, and Thailand to name a few. Highlights from her trips include the pink houses of Bermuda, they mysteries of Macchu Pichu, pink dolphins of the Amazon River, and the 21 species of hummingbirds in the paradise rainforest at the Peace Lodge in Costa Rica.

Inspired also by her father's invaluable lessons that include helping people, Jane has created a brand that combines passion with philanthropy. Enjoying the freedom and flexibility of life as she sees it, Jane Ip happily lives life according to a mantra that hangs on her pink bedroom door and reads: Follow Your Destiny.
